Relationship expert Melissa Ferrari told Yahoo Lifestyle that although sleeping in seperate beds used to be considered a “red flag”, it shouldn’t mean that anything is wrong in a relationship.

She explained, “It misses the nuances of a relationship.”

“To be in a relationship, you’ve got to make allowances, and you’ve got to understand that not everything your partner does is a symbol of whether they love you or not.”

In fact, according to research from Shark, 24% of Aussie couples are sleeping separately to get a better night’s rest.

Even though sleep expert Olivia Arezzolo agreed that sleeping in seperate beds can be extremely valuable for the quality of relationships, she warned against making it a long-term strategy, explaining:

“Sleeping together supports oxytocin production, our love hormone, and that helps us feel emotionally connected.”
